Donuts Day or Night

Taking a trip to the Donut shop is a special treat for us. So, I thought I would show you how to make this special treat without leaving your home.  Surprise your kids and they will love it and be very impressed with you!

No, the shot glass is not in the picture because the recipe is hard and you will need a drink.

While you are following the next step, heat your vegetable oil in a sauce pan. fill the pot about 1/2-3/4 with oil. If you are doing more than one batch, I would use a larger pot. Maybe a stock pot. Heat on medium heat and let the oil get really hot.

Open your can of biscuits. For donuts I use Homestyle Southern Biscuits. With the palm of your hand, press gently on the biscuits making them slightly flat and even.

Take a shot glass, not one with a wide mouth but one with more of a circle opening and press in the center of the biscuit.

Now you have a donut and a donut hole. Continue this same process with the rest of the biscuits.

When you are done there should not be any trace of a biscuit.

This is a perfect spoon for frying. If you do not have one,  a regular teaspoon works great too. Use a cookie sheet lined with paper towels to place your donuts/donut holes on when you are done frying.

Your ready to fry when your oil is hot. When you place the donut holes in the oil, it should sizzle and the donut should float.

This is a quick process, so do not walk away from the pot or Fiddo will be getting a treat instead of you.

Flip them over with a spoon when they are golden brown.

Now do the same process with your donuts.

You can use a sifter or a brown paper bag (lunch size). I think the paper sacks work best.

Pour some of your powdered sugar in the bag. Maybe start with a cup and add as needed. This picture makes me think of white fluffy snow on the ground.....

Place your donut holes in the bag. Roll the bag over as if you just packed a lunch and shake, shake shake! This is a fun job for your kids, if they are helping.

When you take the donuts out of the bag, handle them gently so you don't leave finger impressions on these precious little delights.

Enjoy your special treat!

My Urban Market Finds

You are probably wondering if you are reading the right blog? Well, you are! I am just getting ready for the holidays.

Here are my Urban Market Finds! I am very excited to show them to you. I have two urns, but I cannot show you both at the same time because the sunlight was reflecting off the picture over the fireplace and blinding me! Go figure...

Aren't they gorgeous?!?

This will make a great cooler. It even has a drain on the side. Can you see the side tray for bottlecaps or straws, whatever you can think of.

I can't wait to fill this scrolly basket for Christmas!

Well, there it is! Hope you like my purchases and the new Christmas Design for the blog!

If you missed The Urban Market, you might still be able to find a similar look to my great finds. Don't miss the next Urban Market! Be sure to check the sidebar for the coming events.
